Man caught raping chicken released

Paul Nderitu Kihia

Nairobi - The middle-aged man who was allegedly caught raping a chicken in Kenya was released Wednesday on a bond term of N183 272 by the Nyeri magistrate court.

Paul Nderitu Kihia was released by Resident Magistrate John Aringo, pending trial slated to begin on August 20 after he denied the charges.

Nderitu denied that on July 18, 2013 at Kigwandi village in Tetu district he raped a hen. The insident caused public outrage.

According to a local police boss, the accused was caught in the act by his 10-year-old son who alerted his elder brother and jointly they reported the matter to the chief, leading to the arrest.

The chicken, which reportedly belonged to his eldest son, was also taken to the police station but died shortly after.
