Make Up Mistakes Too Many Women Make

Makeup can be fun to play with, but that also means makeup mistakes can be very common. Making makeup mistakes in the privacy of your own home or with your girlfriends is completely fine, but you don't want to go out in public looking like a clown who doesn't know how to apply makeup! Here are a few makeup mistakes too many women make.

1. LIPSTICK ON YOUR TEETH

One of the worst makeup mistakes you can make is having a smudge of red lipstick right across your pearly white teeth. This is so hideous, and yet happens all too often. A great way to avoid getting lipstick on your teeth is by using lip stain as opposed to lip stick or gloss. Since lip stain dries completely, it won't get on your teeth over the course of a day or night, and you can avoid this pesky issue!

2. ORANGE PALMS

If you are a novice self-tanner, avoid the rookie mistake of having orange palms! Applying self-tanner with your bare hands will ensure that not only your body tans, but that the palms of your hands tan too, which you definitely don’t want. Orange palms are not only ugly, but they are a dead giveaway that your tan is fake as well. Avoid this problem by using a mitt or glove to apply your tanner or by washing your hands thoroughly after an application.

3. RACCOON EYES

So many women overdo their eyes by using dark and heavy eye shadow, eyeliner, and mascara. This look can work for some women, but for most, it makes their eyes look strange and small. Unless you are sure you can pull off the dark eye look, try to avoid making your eyes look too raccoon-ish.

4. OVER-PLUCKED EYEBROWS

Over-plucked eyebrows are scary. Some girls space their eyebrows extremely far apart or pluck them into a teensy weensy line -- but this looks so weird! If you are going to pluck your own eyebrows, make sure they look fairly natural when you are done.

5. FACE DOESN’T MATCH YOUR BODY

If you are going to use a foundation or facial tanner, make sure that your face doesn't come out looking like a mask! Matching your facial makeup to your skin color is extremely important since you want to avoid having either a white or overly tan face compared to the rest of your body.

6. THICK FOUNDATION

Foundation is not meant to be applied over and over. If you feel like you need to keep reapplying your foundation that probably means you need to get a different one that suits your skin better. Having foundation that is thick and layered on makes your skin look horrible, so avoid doing this.

7. CLUMPY EYELASHES

If you are like me and have very short, pale eyelashes, you are going to be tempted to layer on the mascara. Most beauticians recommend only putting on two coats of mascara since clumpy eyelashes are so ugly, but for some of us two coats simply isn't enough. If you are going to coat your eyelashes several times, make sure that you remove any clumps and separate eyelashes that are stuck together when you are done. Using an eyelash brush can help with this issue.

Important Things You Need To Know About Exfoliating

Exfoliating is one of the best things you can do for your skin.  The process sloughs off dead skin cells and allows new smooth, healthy cells to take their place. It also banishes dry, flakey bits, keeps pores clean and clear, and leaves you looking and feeling great. But you have to be careful and keep your specific skin type in mind.

There are two main types of exfoliators, physical and chemical.  Physical exfoliators are products that physically rub off dead skin cells, usually with the help of our hands, Chemical exfoliators includes facial peels and products that slough off dead skin using active ingredients.

Your skin type will determine which type of products are best for you - both so you'll get optimal results and avoid harming your skin. Harsh physical exfoliation can cause damage, especially to sensitive, acneic or rosacea or eczema-prone skin. If you dont fall into any of these categories, a physical exfoliator is a great option for getting skin smooth and soft. It's also essential to making sure you aren't over-scrubbing.  Try out a routine and pay attention to how your skin reacts. If you see any signs of irritation, dial back the frequency-and perhaps try another product.  This sort of monitoring is key, because you could cause permanent damage!

Over-exfoliating can lead to compromising the skin's barrier function, leaving it susceptible to further irritation, redness and dryness, which is basically the exact  thing you're trying to combat with exfoliation.

It's important you clean any sort of tools after every use and store it in a dry, sterile place. Bacteria grows easily on these items, and instead of doing good for you skin, you'll end up just spreading bacteria.

Sharing Make Up Products, Whats Your Take?

Is over sharing of make up product actually harmful? In the front of the mirror, conversations amongst friend are like:

"Ooooh I love that colour, can I try"

"Ooooh I can't find my red, can I have yours"

"I left my blush in the other bag, can I have yours"

The list is unending. Sharing makeup doesn't automatically have to mean a germ fest, and there are ways to do it while reducing exposure to bacteria.

However, it's okay to share certain products as long as they're easy to sanitize, if you know the person well enough, it makes it easier to ask if they're sick or if they are suffering from an infection that can be transferred through sharing certain types of makeup.  There are some products that you simply shouldn't share, whether you know the share-ee well or not.  Mascara and lip gloss are especially risky items to share. However, any type of face powder including powder foundation or blush are among the least likely to transmit harmful bacteria.

Sometimes it's hard to say no to a friend who wants to borrow your lipstick, no matter how germ-phobic you are. If you absolutely cannot get out of sharing a product without coming off as a mean and selfish person, you can still reduce germs and bacteria present.  You can spray a coat of 70 percent isopropyl alcohol over the product and then gently wipe off the first layer to sanitize it.(Make Up Sanitizers). 

Never test a lip or eye product directly on your face at any beauty shop, instead, see if you can get a sample or apply a bit of product on the back of your hand if you want to test or explore the colour.
